AI Guru Academy · Legal

Privacy Policy

Effective · Version 1.0

AI Guru (“AI Guru”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates https://aiguru.academy under the name AI Guru Academy (the “Platform”), where learners discover, buy and take online courses. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, keep and protect personal information, and the choices available to you.

It applies to the Platform and the learner accounts, courses, purchases, assessments, certificates and support conversations connected to it. It does not cover independent websites that we link to; they have their own notices. Our privacy contact is [email protected].

In short

  • We collect what we need to run your account, take payment, deliver courses and issue certificates: your email, name, orders, lesson progress and quiz results.
  • Card and UPI details go straight to our payment partner. They never reach our servers.
  • We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and secure. There are no analytics or advertising trackers on the Platform.
  • We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
  • We do not currently use AI tutors or send your data to AI model providers. Our courses teach about AI; the Platform itself does not run it on your data.
  • You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your information by emailing [email protected].

This summary is for convenience. The full text below is what applies.

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Platform, we collect:

  • Account information: email address, a one-way hash of your password (never the password itself), display name, and the locale, time zone and country you choose.
  • Enrolment and transaction information: courses purchased, enrolments, order history, prices paid, transaction and payment identifiers from our payment partner, payment status and refund history. Card, bank and UPI details are entered on the payment partner’s own secure form; we never receive or store complete card numbers or security codes.
  • Learning activity: lessons viewed, playback position and watched time for videos, lessons marked complete, quiz answers, scores and attempts, course progress, completion dates and certificates earned.
  • Communications: emails and support messages you send us, and our replies.
  • Device and security information: IP address, browser and device characteristics, pages requested, timestamps and request identifiers in our server and security logs, used to keep the Platform working and safe.
  • Cookies: the small set of strictly necessary cookies described in section 3.
  • Information from others: payment confirmation and status from our payment partner; your name and email from Google if you choose to sign in with Google; and, where an organisation buys or administers training for you, the enrolment details it gives us.

Please do not put sensitive personal data (such as government identifiers or health information) in quiz answers, support messages or other free-text fields.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  1. Create and maintain your account, sign you in and keep the Platform secure.
  2. Process orders, enrol you, provide course access, record progress, grade quizzes and issue certificates and completion records.
  3. Send you service messages about purchases, courses, security, outages and policy changes, and answer your support requests.
  4. Improve course quality, usability and reliability using aggregate learning data.
  5. Detect and investigate fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms of Use and comply with the law.
  6. Keep the financial, tax and audit records we are required to keep.
  7. Send marketing emails only where you have agreed or the law otherwise permits, always with an unsubscribe option.

We describe only processing we actually do. If we start a new kind of processing, we will update this policy first.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

The Platform sets only cookies that are strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for. We do not use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking cookies, pixels or fingerprinting.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but you will not be able to sign in or watch course videos without the ones above. If we ever add non-essential cookies, we will update this section and give you a control to accept or refuse them before they are set.

4. When we share information

We share personal information only as described here:

  • Service providers that help us run the Platform, under contracts that limit their use of the data: Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage, video delivery and email delivery), Cloudflare (network security and content delivery), our payment partners Stripe and, where it is offered at checkout, Razorpay (payment processing) and Google (only if you choose to sign in with Google).
  • Our staff, who can see learner records only to the extent needed for support, course operations and investigations. Staff access requires a second authentication factor, and actions that change your access or money are logged with a reason.
  • Sponsoring organisations, where an employer or institution buys or administers your training. We tell you what is shared, which is normally limited to enrolment and completion status.
  • Professional advisers and public authorities, where necessary to comply with the law, protect safety or defend legal rights.
  • A successor business, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to confidentiality and this policy.
  • Anyone you direct us to share with, or with your consent.

Certificate verification. Each certificate has a verification code. Anyone who has the code can see the certificate holder’s name as it appeared at completion, the course title and the completion date on our verification page. Nothing else about you is public. Your assignments, scores and profile are never published.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising or use it for targeted advertising. Because we do none of these things, there is no sale or targeted-advertising opt-out to exercise; if that ever changes we will provide one and honour recognised browser opt-out signals.

5. AI features

Our courses teach about artificial intelligence, but the Platform itself does not currently use AI tutors, automated AI grading or AI recommendations, and we do not send your account, progress or submissions to AI model providers.

If we introduce such a feature, we will update this policy before that feature goes live, tell you inside the feature whether your inputs are sent to an external provider, and state whether they are stored, reviewed or used for training.

6. How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected, then delete or de-identify it. In practice:

  • Account, enrolment and learning records for as long as your account exists, because they are what your course access and certificates are based on.
  • Certificates and completion records for as long as your account exists, so that they can continue to be verified.
  • Order and payment records for as long as tax, accounting and anti-fraud law requires after the transaction, even if you close your account.
  • Sign-in sessions for 14 days of inactivity.
  • Server and security logs for a limited period, rotated automatically.
  • Support emails for as long as needed to resolve the matter and handle any follow-up.

Backups are kept for disaster recovery and are overwritten on a rolling schedule; deleted data may persist in backups for a limited time before it ages out.

7. Your choices and rights

You can update your display name and preferences in your account, and unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any such email. Essential service and security messages continue while you have an account.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to access it, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, obtain a portable copy, and to appeal if we decline a request. We will verify your identity as appropriate, respond within the time the applicable law allows and explain any lawful exception we rely on.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] from the address on your account. To appeal a decision, reply to our response or write to the same address with the subject line “Privacy Rights Appeal”. You may also complain to your local data-protection or consumer-protection authority.

8. Security

We use administrative, technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information: encryption in transit, hashed passwords, short-lived signed links for course media, a required second authentication factor for all staff, and an audit log of staff actions. No system is completely secure, so please use a unique password and tell us promptly about any suspicious activity on your account.

9. International users

We welcome learners from anywhere in the world. The Platform is operated from the United States and uses providers that process information in the United States and other countries, including India. Wherever you use the Platform from, your information will be transferred to and processed in those countries, subject to the safeguards in our provider contracts and applicable law.

10. Children’s privacy

The Platform is intended for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email [email protected] and we will delete it as the law requires.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or legal requirements change. We will post the revised version here with a new effective date and version number, and give you additional notice where the law requires. Material changes that need your consent will not be applied simply by posting a notice.
